Earth
• The ability to have control over the element of earth. This involves being able to summon roots, that can chase others, crush cars and generally cause a lot of damage. However the earth affinity is not only just about trees, roots and the occasional leaf. No. Earth means you control the ground beneath your feet. Feeling angry? Start an earthquake. Earth is both the creator of life and the destroyer of life. Choose wisely.
Fire
• When a person can create and manipulate fire to do their bidding. However be careful as fire is hot. It can be used to strengthen other powers e.g. putting fire into a force field to make a firewall. However, even though fire can be used effectively to either do tricks and show off or to fight efficiently it is pretty unstable, sometimes it can react to the person’s emotions (especially anger) and can lash out at these times so keep your emotions in check unless you want to be burnt to a crisp just because you were angry that your friend bailed on drinks.
Air
• You can summon, control and manipulate the wind. Some pass this off as the weakest element, but they are mistaken. No one would ever question the power of an air affinity after a tornado had swept the area. The wind can carry with it good fortunes and bad, so just watch how you go. Rash decisions do not have direct consequences on the summoning of winds, but they do effect the way in which they can be manipulated.
Water
• When a person can create and manipulate water to do their bidding. This can be very useful when fighting fire or getting someone to get up, or getting rid of a hangover of a friend. Water is a nice element to have as it is not the most dangerous and is subtle. However it can use your emotions so if you are sad it might make a tidal wave so keep the sadness to a minimum unless you want to drown. This can also be used in conjunction with other powers e.g. it can be incorporated into a force field to make a water wall.
Shadow
• The power that stalked your nightmares when you were young. The darkness and all its monsters hiding within. The darkness consumes all, making your opponents fight in pitch black. It can be used to provide cover those touching the one with this gift, so it has its advantages. The darkness brings with it silence, fear and other things besides, so watch out for things that go bump in the night
Light
• What it says on the tin mainly. The person can manipulate the light and create light. Good when trying to snag a midnight snack in darkness or when fighting in the dark. This could also be used in a fight to blind the opponent. However be warned, when using it in a fight you are also at risk of blindness and so it is advised to carry a pair of sunglasses around at all times. Furthermore it is advised not to use this when other people of your side are fighting with you as they are at risk of blindness too unless proper precautions are taken.
Spirit Summoning
• Spirit summoning can be seen in two lights: for good and for evil. The one to fear is those with the ability to summon evil spirits. These summoners are immensely powerful, they can summon walls of spirits which are virtually impenetrable, but due to the sacrifices that need to be made to use this power, it is never found in young people. On the light side, the spirits can be just as deadly but tend to be used as protectors rather than attacking forces.
Spirit Manipulation
• Manipulation usually comes hand in hand with spirit summoning, but on the odd occasion it can be found on its own and can be used in conjunction with another who has the ability of summoning. Manipulation allows you to draw the spirits out from a spirit wall and gives you total control over their actions. However, this consumes energy rapidly, so watch out, just in case you summon a spirit stronger than yourself. The spirits live off your energy, so if one is too strong, it’s not looking good for you.
Technology
• Those with the gift of technology are intelligent. You have to be to be able to link up with any machine and manipulate it, reprogram it and even take control of it. This can prove extremely useful when launching attacks on enemy bases as you can take out the CCTV, disable all communications and generally make it very difficult for the opposition.
Telekinesis
• When a person has the ability to move objects without touching them at all. It is done through the mind. This can be used in battle when other objects can be moved in either attack or defence. However, a person can only control 2 objects at one time. Try to control 3 or more you will pass out for hours as the brain and body cannot take it. Furthermore, sometimes a person can unintentionally control objects, especially when the person is concentrating on anything, which can cause annoyance. Warning- this cannot be used for practical jokes like taking out the chair from under a friend.
Telepathy
• The ability more commonly known as mind-reading. You can see what a person is thinking and read their memories as if they were just words in an open book. You can even place thoughts into a person’s head, but you have no control over them whatsoever. As I said before, this is the ability to read the book, not launch it across the room.
Force Fields
• When a person can fire invisible barriers or walls. These fields are basically impenetrable and are practically the ultimate defence weapon. It can also be used as a shield but that is harder to accomplish. It can be combined to make it stronger e.g. combine it with fire to become a fire wall or a wall of water. However, be warned, this can drain a lot of energy from the possessor if held or used for a long period of time so watch out when using them.
Invisibility
• When a person has the ability to actually disappear. They, plus their clothes plus anything/anyone they are touching disappear with them. This is good if in a fight a sneak attack is needed, or even at a birthday party and the cake needs to be hidden. However, if someone is touching you when you disappear (e.g. an enemy they disappear too but can still see you. Also if known, it is easily foiled by a bit of sand or something that sticks to you to reveal where you are so be warned. And also not to be used for pranks.
Future Sight
• This is a rare ability, one which allows you to see into the future. You can “see” actions and decisions before they are made which is a very useful ability. However, there are disadvantages to this ability. Sometimes you won’t like what you see but you know it will happen and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. There are times at which you can become “blind” to the future, but this various between person to person.
Healing
• When a person can fix minor wounds and help more serious wounds. This is beneficial in a fight as they can heal themselves and their allies. However, the person cannot heal serious injuries, they can try and help but they do not heal that much. Healing cannot reverse death.
Shapeshift
• Where a person can change their shape at will. This is effective as it can be used as a disguise against enemies, e.g. disguise yourself as a table to blend in. It can also be used on the attack e.g. change into a wolf so that you can use the teeth and claws of the wolf. However, if a person has this power they can only turn into two other things and these must be known by the admin at least so that we can moderate the amount of people who are shifting into the same thing
Electricity
• Well you certainly have an electric personality. This ability means you can charge a current over your whole body and send out electrical pulses. These pulses can be anything from waves of electric energy to complex to a large net which can contain others and also prevent them. But there’s a fine line between electric shock jokes and frying your friends, so just take care.
Lightning
• The power of storms. This of course has its downsides; you can’t control lightning if there’s no storm. Some with the lightning ability can only predict where lightning is going to fall, others can harness this immense energy and change its direction, absorb it and use it offensively against others.
Super strength
• This is the ability to be super strong. This means that you can move objects that other people would not normally be about to move e.g. trees. However this does not mean that the person is invincible or that they can just kill someone with one blow. While super strength is a huge asset, it is also a curse as the person will not be able to spar or practice against anyone as it will be an unequal fight, also they will have to watch out shaking hands or hugging people as they have to hold back the strength, I mean you don’t want to crush your ally.
Animal control
• Where a person can talk to and control animals. This can be used to gain a tactical advantage over the other side, to get the animals to fight for you or for them to tell you where the enemy is. However, people of this gift can only converse with one type of animal e.g. anything from the dog and wolf family. This means that you can gain their trust and they can help you in your endeavour. However you have to be aware that say anything wrong and they can turn on you. You know what they say, never work with animals.
Supervision
• Also known as eagle sight. This ability allows you to see further than you ever thought possible. You can see perfect details even if you are half a mile away from the object. You can focus in on certain objects, which would prove useful for seeing codes being typed into buildings or spotting agents in trees.
Super speed
• As it says on the tin really. The person can move very fast, faster than the eye can keep up with. This means that sneak attacks can be made as the person is taken by surprise as they are happening as they are too quick. Also they are too quick for CCTV so footage cannot be captured. It also has been rumoured that people with super speed can actually run on water, but it has not been tested. However these people can tend to be clumsy in their haste and therefore might be more of a hindrance than a help.
Flight
• One of the tradition powers from the age of the superhero. Flight is a simple ability to explain, you can fly, no questions asked. It’s really that simple. Well, nothing is that simple, is it? Of course not. Flying requires a certain amount of energy and intense concentration, a lapse in either one of these and you’ll come crashing down.
Night vision
• Again what it says on the tin. The person has the ability to see at night and in total darkness. This is a blessing if fighting a combat at night or if you are against a darkness manipulator. It brings the element of surprise into it as your adversary would not expect you to be able to see in their darkness. It also brings an element of safety as the person can guide the others to the right places. However do not abuse this power by looking at indecent things.
Extendable limbs
• When a person has hyperflexability and can move their limbs nimbly. They can also extend their limbs way more than the average human and can contort themselves into any shape e.g. a parachute. This means that they can hide from the enemy and/or be safe and provide safety for people. However, your opponent can grab hold of your limbs and can drag you to them.
Freezing
• You can freeze stuff. That’s it in a nutshell really, but I’ll explain a bit more. Freezing is the art of immobilising an object with the use of ice. However you cannot freeze a person forever, seeing as though freezing requires the use of your own energy. The longer you freeze something or someone, the more it drains your own energy. Run out of energy and you’ll become frozen yourself.
Mind Control
• You can control other people. That’s the basics. You can control people, make them do things, change their points of view, use their power through them. But then there’s always a downside. Self-determination, if strong enough, has the power to override mind control, however the mind has to be entirely focused on that one thing, or the mind control still persists. This is usually linked with another psychic ability, but it is not a necessity.
Levitation
• Levitation is levitation; it is making objects, or people, float in the air. This ancient art has been around and has been attempted for thousands of years before gifted started doing this. This can help lift people up so that they can get a better trajectory. However this needs energy and the heavier the object lifted and the longer the amount of time, the more energy it needs to suck out of the person with the gift so be warned.
Duplication
• When a person splits themselves in two and creates an identical copy. This copy will then do the original’s bidding and help fight the war. For the sake of preventing anarchy people with this ability are only allowed to make 1 copy of themselves. Be warned though, this copy has a mind and can think for itself which could be problematic if they decide to join the other side. Also make sure that there is a difference between the original and the copy so that the copy can be destroyed without killing the original
Illusion
• The ability to conjure illusions which can be seen by anyone in the surrounding area. This can be used for both good and of course evil. It just depends on which side of the line you fall on. These illusions can range from a change in the weather to the appearance of mythical beings or new people and even isolate them to the mind of one person. It all depends on the person with the illusion affinity and their determination to carry out their wish.
